The Calming Touch Approach

Casey Horan has been relieving pain and discomfort in the Savannah area as a licensed, nationally certified therapist since 2000. Prior to his formal massage training he studied bodywork extensively through martial arts.

Casey began his journey in 1990 wile studying Dan Zan Ryu Jujitsu with Professor Gary Lesak. Through this unique style of martial arts, he gained an intimate knowledge of applied kinesiology, body mechanics, and anatomy. It is customary to learn restoration massage as a means of repairing injuries or dysfuntinctions caused by the workouts.

Casey obtained his license to practice massage therapy in 2000 from SSOMT. For the past fourteen years he has worked in a variety of capacities in the field of massage and has experience in all types of relaxation/spa massage as well as neuromuscular/medical massage.

He has since honed his skills through practice and education to develop his own unique style, Calming Touch, providing his clients with an experience beyond compare that rejuvenates, relieves pain, and restores balance to the body.

Casey believes that massage therapy is for more than just treatment of injuries. It is a vehicle assisting the body to perform as it was designed to...

He also strives to help educate clients about how their body functions, realizing that knowledge goes a long way in healing.

Casey has continued his education throughout the years obtaining certification in Okazakin Restoration Massage, Reflexology, Sports Massage and training in multiple modalities.

"Calming Touch is my own unique approach to massage therapy and bodywork.

I use the holistic ideals of dealing with the body as a whole to evaluate the needs of my clients. Using massage, trigger point therapy, stretching, and energy work, my goal is to bring the body back to a more balanced relaxed state. When the body is relaxed and balanced it performs better. I also use a combination of hot stones, towels, and liniments to customize each treatment as necessary. The true secret of Calming Touch is applying the perfect amount of pressure, just enough to get the proper result, but no pain."

A little history...

Restoration Therapy has been practiced in Japan for centuries. Professor Henry S. Okazaki, founder of Danzan-Ryu Jujitsu, continued to develop Restoration Therapy by combining the most effective techniques from several disciplines. The true purpose of the study of Jujitsu is to make the student a healer. The self-control, concentration, confidence, and ability to project life force (Qi, Prana, vitality) developed in martial arts training are the same attributes utilized by the best healers. Restoration Therapy is a powerful and dynamic form of body work. This unique Healing Art is an evolution of techniques developed and passed down through the tradition of the Martial Arts. With a focus on pressure points and Yoga techniques, Restoration Therapy is a truly unique experience. Clients are educated and given tools to empower themselves. This profound technique helps the body heal itself.
